IUCN, International Union for Conservation of Nature, the world’s oldest and largest global environmental organisation, helps the world find pragmatic solutions to the most pressing environment and development challenges.
IUCN’s work focuses on valuing and conserving nature, ensuring effective and equitable governance of its use, and deploying nature-based solutions to global challenges in climate, food and development. IUCN supports scientific research, manages field projects all over the world, and brings governments, NGOs, the UN and companies together to develop policy, laws and best practice.
IUCN's work is framed by a Global Programme, coordinated by IUCN’s Secretariat. It also comprises a number of theme-based programmes, including one on Ecosystems management, with a sub-programme (or key programmatic area) on Climate Change and Ecosystem based Adaptation (EbA).
IUCN is extensively involved in supporting climate change adaptation, with a specific focus on EbA. This is directly aligned with IUCN’s commitment to nature-based solutions as a part of its overall vision and mission.
