ALivE launch at CBD side event

On July 3, 2018, the EbA Planning Tool ‘ALivE – Adaptation, Livelihoods and Ecosystems’ (version 1.0) was launched with IISD and IUCN at the side event: “Better Tools and Standards: Enhancing the Effectiveness and Mainstreaming of Ecosystem-based Adaptation” during the Twenty-second meeting of the Subsidiary Body on Scientific, Technical and Technological Advice of the Convention for Biological Diversity in Montreal, Canada.

ALivE, a key EbA South project deliverable, is developed in partnership with IISD and IUCN. The computer-based tool and user manual are now freely downloadable on https://www.iisd.org/project/ALivE. ALivE is designed to support EbA project managers and practitioners in organising and analyzing information to plan effective EbA options within a broader EbA planning process. It is a rapid qualitative assessment technique that can be applied in any ecosystem types.

The user manual in French and Nepalese languages will also be soon available. As requested by the EbA South project pilot countries, training workshops on ALivE are organised in July (Mauritania and Nepal) and planned in October (Seychelles).

We would be delighted to learn if you are interested in applying ALivE and welcome any feedback to improve it.
