Agriculture

Agricultural ecosystems are vulnerable to climate change, with severe consequences in terms of food security. Climate change impacts on agricultural ecosystems can be direct, e.g. by influencing crops growth, or indirect, for instance by affecting the biodiversity on which agriculture depends. Ecosystem-based approaches to adaptation, which tackle issues such as resource scarcity and ecological degradation, have the potential to establish climate-resilient agriculture and to enhance food security, particularly in developing countries.
