Grassland

Grassland ecosystems are dominated by grasses and forbs. Vegetation richness and composition vary with topography and geographic location. Grasslands occupy about one quarter of the Earth's land area and support a wide diversity of species. As grassland ecosystem functions are tied directly to temperature and precipitation, climate change affects all services provided by this type of ecosystem, including forage for livestock and wildlife, water quality and also carbon storage.
