Urban

The majority of the world's population lives in urban areas. Nevertheless, humanity is still dependent on nature for its survival. Urban ecosystems such as trees, green and blue spaces and peri-urban agriculture generate a range of ecosystem services. These include air filtration, noise reduction, rainwater drainage, recreational and cultural values. The impacts of climate change deeply affect urban areas, particularly those confronted with uncontrolled growth, poverty and social exclusion. Incorporating EbA into the planning of adaptation processes in cities constitutes a promising option to reduce the vulnerability of urban populations, particularly in developing countries.
