Profile:
Dr Adandé Belarmain Fandohan joined UNEP-IEMP as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in July 2012 and currently works as an outpost research associate. Within UNEP-IEMP, Belarmain provides technical support for implementation of the EbA South project, especially in Mauritania. He also supports technical insights from UNEP-IEMP (e.g., customizing the EbA concept) into the Great Green Wall Initiative in Africa. His scientific niche breadth covers cross-cutting issues combining biogeography, conservation, and ethnobiology of prominent plants that can potentially be used to improve rural communities’ livelihoods. Currently he is customizing recently developed tools (e.g. point process models, up-weighted and down-weighted regressions; mixed effects models; demographic based models) to assess ecotype-specific response of key agroforestry species to climate change (i.e., the Baobab, the Tamarind, and the Shea butter trees) in Sub-Saharan Africa.
