While we are paying attention to the major hurricances like Sandy (New Jersey in 2012) and Typhoon Haiyan (the Philippines 2013) and the human, financial, and community loss caused by, some smaller communities may also at their risk from even minor storms. The Nature Conservancy is taking challenge to help communities adapt to a changing climate before the next storm.
Reefs and mangroves can be a cost-effective option when compared with grey infrastructure, and they also play a critical role in reducing the social vulnerability of communities.The Nature Conservancy and Red Cross are jointly working at a small fishing village Grenvile (northeast side of Grenada) in increase to local climate resilience, respectively responsible for providing scientific expertise and connecting the local communities and social issues.
The milestones of this joint project are introduced in this article.
