Global Gender and Environment Outlook

Posted on: 27 Jul 2016 / Submitted by: Silvia

Gender inequality is one of the most pervasive threats to sustainable development. It has negative impacts on access to, use of and control over a wide range of resources, and on the ability to meet human rights obligations with respect to enjoyment – by women and men – of a clean, safe, healthy and sustainable environment.

The Global Gender and Environment Outlook (GGEO) is a collaborative project between the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) and Strategic Partners to bring gender issues to the heart of environmental assessment and decision-making.

GGEO has produced a comprehensive publication that includes chapters analyzing the role of women in conservation, management and restoration of key vulnerable ecosystems.
