The UN Collaborative Programme on Reducing Emissions from Deforestation and Forest Degradation in Developing Countries (UN-REDD) has launched an info brief on ‘REDD+ and adaptation: Identifying complementary responses to climate change’.
The brief describes how ecosystem-based approaches to adaptation (EBA) can contribute to REDD+ goals: for example, using mangrove restoration rather
than hard infrastructure to adapt to coastal flooding can enhance forest carbon stocks. At the same time, REDD+ activities can maintain and enhance the provision of ecosystem services.
