RECOFTC - The Center for People and Forests is accepting applications for its training course on Joint Mitigation and Adaptation (JMA): A Community Forestry Approach, to be organized from 30 May to 4 June, 2016 in Bangkok, Thailand.

Forests are well known for their role as carbon sinks. But less appreciated is their potential for supporting local and national adaption. In many parts of the world community forestry is an accessible and cost effective strategy for responding to climate change needs, jointly contributing to mitigation as well as adaptation goals.

This course is designed for practitioners seeking to expand their “toolkit” for implementing JMA. In addition to covering the basic theoretical foundations of JMA, this course will explore innovative and practical strategies for its implementation through a community forestry framework. The week long training will allow participants the opportunity to apply skills gained in a community managed mangrove site in the Gulf of Thailand.
