In 2010, the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the International Union for the Conservation of Nature (IUCN) decided to join forces in climate change adaptation and to work together to promote Ecosystem Based Adaptation (EbA) as a fruitful adaptation measure. Germany’s Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety (BMU) is also a partner and is providing support to the first phase of the programme as one of its fast-start finance initiatives.
The partners believe that by cooperating value will be added to the work of the organizations and it will strengthen the delivery of services to different stakeholders. All partners bring different expertise to the partnership, allowing for the programme’s outcomes to reach the local, national, regional and global level.
