The World Agroforestry Centre (ICRAF) and partners will convene the Africa Chapter conference of Ecosystems Services Partnership (ESP) on 21–25 November 2016 in Nairobi, Kenya.
The conference theme is Ecosystem Services for SDGs in Africa and the discussions will focus on Africa’s contribution towards best practices for management and restoration of ecosystem services for decision making particularly towards the realization of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Ecosystem services are crucial for meeting basic livelihood, social, economic and environmental needs of the poor in Africa, hence proper management and restoration of essential ecosystem services will to a large extent ensure Africa can adapt to and mitigate climate change.
The call for sessions is already online and call for abstracts will soon follow.
We hope the conference will accelerate collaboration in Africa on the science, policy and practice of the Ecosystem Services concept and initiate a strong Africa Ecosystem Services Network.
