The Institute of Geographic Sciences and Natural Resources Research (IGSNRR), Chinese Academy of Sciences is organizing a training workshop, sponsored by the Climate Change Department of the National Development and Reform Commission of China (NDRC). The Advanced Training Workshop on Ecosystem-based Adaptation (EbA) in Arid Areas will be held from 10 to 21 October 2016 in Beijing in the frame of China's Thematic Training Program of South-South Cooperation on Climate Change.

The main objective is to implement the capacity building initiatives announced by China’s President Xi Jinping during the climate conference in Paris last year. Reflecting on the personnel training needs of developing countries with diverse levels of talents, the Advanced Training Workshop is open to an international group of public officials, researchers and practitioners, who embark on, or are already involved in ecosystem monitoring and management, ecosystem-based adaptation (EbA) in arid areas. The workshop aims to enhance the participants’ understanding of how scientific approaches and management strategies can help developing countries adapt to ecosystem changes in the context of climate change.
