On Sunday 28 January 2018, the mangrove planting event on Curieuse with local communities as part of the EbA South project and also to commemorate the Protection Area Day celebration was successfully organised. In total, 23 volunteers mainly from Terrestrial Restoration Action Society of Seychelles (TRASS), 2 Seychelles National Park Anthority (SNPA) staff and 2 Global Vision International (GVI) members participated and 550 Black mangrove (mangliye lat) plus 5 Red mangrove (mangliye rouz) were planted in part of the degraded mangrove. The area being targeted is the fairly open area near badamier trail close to the Mangliye lat stand above the project nursery.

The event was also an opportunity to train participants in mangrove planting techniques, and general awareness on mangrove.
